Micro-Trains Line Co.'s latest N-scale body style, modern 60-foot-tall cube two-door boxcar, with outer column wheels, and a mix of molding and independent factory application details.

Our sample decoration is TBOX number. 667101, part of the 667000 to 667724 series of rail car rental company TTX. The full-size car was manufactured by National Steel Car in accordance with Job P7065/13 between August and December 2013.

The 100-ton two-door truck is used to transport various commodities, including aluminum sheets and billets, asphalt shingles, malt wine, newsprint, plywood, oriented strand board, pulp board and tin. The car has nailable steel floor and wall anchors.

The Micro-Train boxcar has a one-piece injection-molded plastic body with a separate factory-applied door. The double plug door is cast as a unit and press fit into the opening on the side of the car. The door has an independent door post and many templates, the latter is clearly visible under a magnifying glass.

The ladders on both sides of the car are compression molded; the last ones are separate parts. Other end details for factory applications include etched metal transparent cross platforms, ladders, decoupling rods and brake wheels.

At the top, the boxcar has a friction-fit one-piece plastic roof, coated with flat aluminum. The roof has exactly three X panels and seven diagonal middle panels at each end. There is a heavy metal object in the car.

The plastic stirrup steps molded in yellow are separate castings that connect to the bottom of the car. The Magne-Matic coupler has a blackened metal trip pin and is screwed to the body.

The size of the boxcar is closely related to the data published in the official railway equipment register in January 2016. The TTX boxcar is neatly painted in yellow and black. The lettering position matches the prototype photo.

Although the boxcar will pass through a curve with a radius of 11 inches, the overhang is not very typical. At 45⁄8 inches long, the model will look better on a wider curve.

Micro-Trains has always produced exquisite N-scale models, but the company has increased its competitiveness on the NSC 60-foot-tall cubic double-sliding door boxcar. Body-mounted couplers with black metal travel pins, metal wheels and etched metal crossover platforms are all welcome additions to this modern car.

Full-size cars transport all kinds of goods and can be found on railroads throughout North America. This is a must-have truck with a modern N-scale layout.
